This guide is for whoever decides what the birds on a farm eat: the producer, the feed-mill manager, the advisor who works with several farms. You need no coding or maths; you need to know your farm.
Sigue el mismo orden que la app: un capítulo por cada bloque de la barra superior, del 1 al 8, cada uno con su color. Todos los ejemplos usan un solo caso, una granja de altura con 10,000 pollos, así que los números de un capítulo son los que entran al siguiente. Si lo lees de corrido, al terminar habrás formulado, mezclado y costeado una dieta real.
It follows the app’s order: one chapter for each block in the top bar, 1 to 8, each with its own colour. Every example uses a single case, a high-altitude farm with 10,000 broilers, so the numbers in one chapter are the ones that feed the next. Read it start to finish and you will have formulated, mixed and costed a real diet.

You tell it which birds you have, their growth phase, which ingredients you can buy and at what price. RatioAvis tries every possible combination and returns the cheapest mix that covers everything your birds need, with the exact kilos to weigh for your mixer and what each bird costs you.

Because the low price is sought only among formulas that already meet the energy, protein, amino acids and minerals required by your genetic line’s table. No formula that falls short on a nutrient can win, however cheap.

¿Crías pollo criollo, de rancho o de color? Elige Pollo criollo / crecimiento lento. Estas aves comen un alimento menos concentrado y tienen un ciclo de 8 semanas o más.

Below the lines is the Sex of the birds card. Almost every commercial farm raises as-hatched (mixed), and that is the default.

Growth phase and requirements
Conforme el pollo crece, necesita menos proteína y más energía por kilo de alimento. Por eso se formula una dieta por fase.
As the bird grows it needs less protein and more energy per kilo of feed. That is why one diet is formulated per phase.

Captura el desempeño esperadoEnter the expected performance
La tarjeta Desempeño esperado en la fase pide cuánto alimento come cada pollo y cuánto peso gana en esa fase. La app trae los valores de la tabla, pero los tuyos son mejores: usa el promedio de tus últimos lotes. Con ellos calcula la conversión alimenticia y, más adelante, el costo por pollo.
The Expected performance in the phase card asks how much feed each bird eats and how much weight it gains in that phase. The app fills in the table values, but yours are better: use the average of your last flocks. From them it computes the feed conversion ratio and, later, the cost per bird.
- Iniciación seleccionada: de 0 a 10 días.Starter selected: days 0 to 10.
- Consumo por ave en la fase: 0.30 kg. Cámbialo por el de tus registros.Intake per bird in the phase: 0.30 kg. Replace it with your records.

Los requerimientos: mira, pero no toquesRequirements: look, but don’t touch
Más abajo está la tabla Requerimientos nutricionales, con el mínimo y el máximo de cada nutriente. En la vista Productor ves los 8 nutrientes clave: energía, proteína, lisina, metionina + cistina, treonina, calcio, fósforo disponible y sodio. Los otros 12 siguen cuidándose al formular aunque no los veas.
Further down is the Nutrient requirements table, with each nutrient’s minimum and maximum. In the Producer view you see the 8 key nutrients: energy, protein, lysine, methionine + cystine, threonine, calcium, available phosphorus and sodium. The other 12 are still enforced when formulating, even if you do not see them.
Cambia un requerimiento solo si tu nutriólogo te lo indica. Si editas alguno, aparece la etiqueta editadosedited; para volver a la tabla original usa ↺ Restaurar valores de la tabla↺ Restore table values. Una casilla vacía significa «sin límite».
Change a requirement only if your nutritionist tells you to. If you edit one, the edited label appears; to go back to the original table use ↺ Restore table values. An empty cell means “no limit”.

Arriba de 1,500 m hay menos oxígeno. Un pollo de crecimiento rápido con alimento muy energético crece más de lo que su corazón y sus pulmones pueden sostener, y aparece el síndrome ascítico, una causa importante de mortalidad. Moderar la energía en las primeras fases frena un poco ese crecimiento inicial.
Above 1,500 m there is less oxygen. A fast-growing bird on a very energy-dense feed grows faster than its heart and lungs can sustain, and ascites syndrome appears, a major cause of mortality. Moderating energy in the early phases slows that early growth slightly.
Escribimos 2200 de altitud, 24 °C, 10000 aves y un bache de 1000 kg. La app advierte riesgo de ascitis y presionamos Reducir 50 kcal la EM de esta fase.
La energía mínima de la iniciación baja de 2,975 a 2,925 kcal/kg. En el Bloque 6 veremos cuánto dinero ahorra esto.
We type 2200 altitude, 24 °C, 10000 birds and a 1000 kg batch. The app warns of ascites risk and we press Lower this phase’s ME by 50 kcal.
The starter’s minimum energy drops from 2,975 to 2,925 kcal/kg. In Block 6 we will see how much money this saves.

La biblioteca trae 29 ingredientes agrupados por tipo: granos, pastas proteicas, aceites, minerales, aminoácidos y aditivos. De inicio vienen marcados los 14 de una dieta típica de maíz y soya.
The library holds 29 ingredients grouped by type: grains, protein meals, oils, minerals, amino acids and additives. The 14 of a typical corn–soy diet are ticked by default.
- Casilla: marcada, la app puede usarlo; desmarcada, no.Checkbox: ticked, the app may use it; unticked, it may not.
- Editar: cambia su composición con tu análisis de laboratorio.Edit: change its composition with your lab analysis.
- Agregar: crea un ingrediente que no esté en la lista.Add: create an ingredient that is not on the list.
- Si un ingrediente no lo puedes conseguir todo el ciclo, desmárcalo: una fórmula que no puedes fabricar no sirve.
- If you cannot get an ingredient for the whole cycle, untick it: a formula you cannot make is useless.
- Si tienes un ingrediente barato que no aparece (salvado, harina de pescado local…), agrégalo con su análisis.
- If you have a cheap ingredient that is not listed (bran, local fishmeal…), add it with its analysis.
- Siempre deja marcados la premezcla vitamínico-mineral, la sal y una fuente de calcio y fósforo.
- Always keep the vitamin–mineral premix, salt and a calcium and phosphorus source ticked.
La composición viene de tablas reconocidas (Rostagno, FEDNA, NRC) y está expresada «tal como se ofrece», con unos 88–90 % de materia seca. Un maíz húmedo o una pasta de soya de menor proteína cambian el resultado. Si tienes un análisis reciente, captúralo con EditarEdit; para regresar al valor original usa ↺ Valores de tabla↺ Table values.
Composition comes from recognised tables (Rostagno, FEDNA, NRC) and is expressed “as fed”, at about 88–90 % dry matter. A wet corn or a lower-protein soybean meal changes the result. If you have a recent analysis, enter it with Edit; to go back to the original value use ↺ Table values.

For each ticked ingredient enter the price per kilo delivered to your farm, freight and handling included. The app works out the price per tonne.

Los precios precargados solo sirven para probar la app. Antes de fabricar, reemplázalos con tus cotizaciones de esta semana: un peso de diferencia en el maíz cambia la fórmula.
The preloaded prices are only for trying the app. Before mixing, replace them with this week’s quotes: a small change in the price of corn changes the formula.
Los límites de inclusiónInclusion limits
Los límites evitan fórmulas baratas pero poco prácticas o riesgosas: demasiado aceite que no se mezcla bien, demasiado sorgo que no pigmenta, demasiada sal. La app ya trae límites sensatos; cámbialos solo si tienes una razón.
Limits prevent cheap but impractical or risky formulas: too much oil that does not mix well, too much sorghum that does not pigment, too much salt. The app comes with sensible limits; change them only if you have a reason.
Para que un ingrediente entre en una cantidad exacta, escribe el mismo valor en mínimo y máximo. Así viene la premezcla vitamínico-mineral: 0.25 y 0.25, que es lo que suele indicar su etiqueta.
To make an ingredient go in at an exact amount, enter the same value as minimum and maximum. That is how the vitamin–mineral premix comes: 0.25 and 0.25, as its label usually indicates.
Cómo leer las dos últimas columnasReading the last two columns
$ por 1,000 kcal y $ por kg de PC dicen cuánto te cuesta la energía y la proteína de cada ingrediente. Entre dos granos, el que tenga el número más bajo en energía es la fuente de energía más barata. En el ejemplo, el sorgo da la energía a 1.56 y el maíz a 1.63. Aun así, la fórmula final depende de todos los nutrientes a la vez, y por eso hay que formular.
$ per 1,000 kcal and $ per kg CP tell you what the energy and protein from each ingredient cost you. Between two grains, the one with the lower energy figure is the cheaper energy source. In the example, sorghum supplies energy at 1.56 and corn at 1.63. Even so, the final formula depends on all nutrients at once, which is why you formulate.

Below the cards, the app turns the result into sentences. The last two are the most valuable: they tell you what drives your diet’s cost and which ingredient could cut it if you find a better price.
La hoja de mezcladoThe mixing sheet
Es lo que llevas a la planta: los kilos exactos de cada ingrediente para un bache de tu mezcladora, ordenados de mayor a menor, con una casilla para marcar conforme pesas. El botón 🖨 Imprimir🖨 Print la saca en papel. En el celular se ve en una sola columna, cómoda para llevar junto a la báscula.
This is what you take to the mill: the exact kilos of each ingredient for one batch of your mixer, largest first, with a box to tick as you weigh. The 🖨 Print button puts it on paper. On a phone it shows as a single column, handy to keep next to the scale.

Metionina, lisina, treonina, valina, colina, sal, bicarbonato y premezcla entran en pocos kilos por tonelada. Si los echas directo a la mezcladora no se reparten bien y unos pollos comen de más y otros de menos. Mézclalos antes con unos 20 kg de maíz molido (una «premezcla») y agrega esa premezcla al bache.
Methionine, lysine, threonine, valine, choline, salt, bicarbonate and premix go in at just a few kilos per tonne. Tipped straight into the mixer they do not spread evenly, and some birds get too much and others too little. Blend them first with about 20 kg of ground corn (a “premix”) and add that premix to the batch.

Lo que valió el ajuste por altitudWhat the altitude adjustment was worth
Formulamos el mismo caso dos veces: con la tabla original y con el ajuste de −50 kcal del Bloque 3. El aceite, que cuesta más de cinco veces lo que el maíz, bajó de 3.04 % a 2.08 % de la fórmula:
We formulated the same case twice: with the original table and with the −50 kcal adjustment from Block 3. Oil, which costs more than five times as much as corn, dropped from 3.04 % to 2.08 % of the formula:
Son $247 menos por tonelada; para las 3 toneladas de iniciación del lote, unos $740. Además de ahorrar, protege a las aves de la ascitis. Es un buen ejemplo de por qué conviene llenar el Bloque 3 con cuidado.
That is $247 less per tonne; for the flock’s 3 tonnes of starter, about $740. Besides saving money, it protects the birds from ascites. A good example of why Block 3 is worth filling in carefully.

The Unused ingredients · entry price table tells you at what price an ingredient left out would start to pay off. Use it when negotiating with your supplier.
Escribe en Evaluar una fórmula existente los porcentajes de la dieta que usas hoy y presiona Evaluar fórmulaEvaluate formula. La tarjeta Diferencia vs. fórmula óptima te dice cuánto pagas de más por tonelada.
Type the percentages of the diet you use today into Evaluate an existing formula and press Evaluate formula. The Difference vs. optimal formula card shows how much extra you pay per tonne.
Si aparece «Sin solución»If “No solution” appears
Significa que ninguna combinación de tus ingredientes cumple todo a la vez. No es un error de la app: es información. RatioAvis te dice qué restricción relajar para que sí haya solución.
It means that no combination of your ingredients meets everything at once. It is not an app error: it is information. RatioAvis tells you which constraint to relax so that there is a solution.

Mira la barra ¿Dónde se va el dinero del alimento?. Si una fase se lleva la mayor parte (aquí la finalización 1, con 48 %), entonces es ahí donde vale más la pena negociar precios o ajustar la fórmula. Un ahorro pequeño en esa fase pesa más que uno grande en la iniciación, que solo se lleva el 5 %.
Look at the Where does the feed money go? bar. If one phase takes the largest share (here finisher 1, at 48 %), then that is where negotiating prices or adjusting the formula pays off most. A small saving in that phase weighs more than a large one in the starter, which takes only 5 %.
El programa aplica los ajustes por sexo, pigmentación y calor, pero no las ediciones manuales del Bloque 2 ni el ajuste por altitud, que solo valen para la fase que formulaste en el Bloque 6. Por eso la iniciación aparece aquí a $9,052 y no a $8,805. Si tu granja está en la altura, formula cada fase en el Bloque 6 con su ajuste antes de fabricar.
The program applies the sex, pigmentation and heat adjustments, but not manual edits in Block 2 nor the altitude adjustment, which only apply to the phase you formulated in Block 6. That is why the starter shows here at $9,052 rather than $8,805. If your farm is at altitude, formulate each phase in Block 6 with its adjustment before mixing.

La app redacta un resumen con el nombre de tu dieta y de tu granja (los capturas en la pantalla de Inicio, en Datos del proyecto), la fecha, el costo y la fórmula en porcentaje y en kilos por tonelada.
The app writes a summary with your diet’s and farm’s names (entered on the Home screen under Project details), the date, the cost and the formula as percentages and kilos per tonne.

RatioAvis guarda automáticamente en el navegador que estás usando. Si cambias de computadora o de navegador, o borras el historial, no lo verás ahí. Por eso, al terminar, usa Informe›Guardar proyecto y guarda el archivo junto con tus registros del lote.
RatioAvis saves automatically in the browser you are using. If you switch computer or browser, or clear your history, it will not be there. So when you finish, use Report›Save project and keep the file with your flock records.
Reiniciar todo borra tu proyecto y regresa la app a sus valores de inicio. Para evitar accidentes pide confirmación: hay que presionarlo dos veces. Guarda tu proyecto antes.
Reset everything erases your project and returns the app to its defaults. To prevent accidents it asks for confirmation: you must press it twice. Save your project first.

Es a propósito. Cualquier cambio en precios, ingredientes o requerimientos invalida la fórmula anterior para que nunca fabriques con un resultado viejo. Vuelve a presionar ⚙ Formular.
That is deliberate. Any change in prices, ingredients or requirements invalidates the previous formula so that you never mix from a stale result. Press ⚙ Formulate again.
El costo por ave aparece como «—».The cost per bird shows “—”.
Falta el consumo por ave. Captúralo en el Bloque 2, tarjeta Desempeño esperado en la fase.
The intake per bird is missing. Enter it in Block 2, Expected performance in the phase card.

A tus precios no conviene. Revisa su precio de entrada en la sección 6.6. Si de todos modos debes usarlo, por ejemplo para acabar el inventario, ponle un mínimo % en el Bloque 5.
At your prices it does not pay. Check its entry price in section 6.6. If you must use it anyway, for example to clear stock, give it a minimum % in Block 5.
